Finland vs Norway in the Pajulahti Games Special Olympics alpine skiing

Jesse Honkonen

One new sport will be introduced in the 9th Pajulahti Games: Special Olympics Alpine skiing competition. There are no slopes in Pajulahti so the competition is held in Messilä, about 30 kilometres from Pajulahti. There will be a bus transportation to Messilä and back from Pajulahti.

There will be divisioning runs on Friday 18th of January. Each of the 19 participants will run the slalom course three times. The actual competition day is Saturday 19th of January: three-round slalom competition at 11am and three-round giant slalom competition at 3pm. After the competition the participants go back to Pajulahti where the award ceremony is held before competition disco kicks off.

There will be 13 Finnish participants, two of them are snowboarders, and six norwergian Special Olympics alpine skiers in the competition.
